Effect of Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy on the Anxiety and Depression of War-Handicapped

Background: Depression and anxiety as the most common psychiatric problems in survivors of traumatic events pose a significant burden on health systems families. Objectives: This study was conducted to determine impact group cognitive-behavioral therapy depression war veterans. Methods: quasi-experimental with pre-test post-test control group. The statistical population included all men disabilities who visited Sadra Psychiatric Hospital Tehran. By convenience purposive sampling, 116 people were selected randomly assigned two groups. Therapeutic interventions (group Jacobsen's progressive muscle relaxation technique) applied each for 12 sessions, 2 sessions per week each. Beck’s Scale (Beck, 1961) Spielberger’s Anxiety (Spielberger, 1970) used collect data. Data analyzed using analysis covariance. Results: mean scores phase decreased compared (P < 0.05). Therefore, improved psychological symptoms participants. Conclusions: Cognitive-behavioral cognitive flexibility diminished anxiety-depression veterans; thus, it can be considered useful treatment strategy improve status
